Beauty and The Brand: Inspiration for my Advertising Shoots

Here are the images that I have used as references and inspiration for for my Advertisement shoots. I knew that I wanted one of my images to be light, whilst the other more dramatic and darker. For the day-time look, I looked at previous Givenchy advertisements. I found two that have inspired me the most - the 2015 'Live Irrestitible' shoot, and the 2016 Spring/Summer Makeup Collection Shoot. I was inspired by the pastel colours, and how different these shoots were to the usual Gothic feel to the brand. I think this is because they are aiming these shoots at real people in order for them to buy the products. These shoots cater for a wider target audience. I particularly liked the use of colours within the images, especially the use of pastel tones. I thought about how I could use this within my first design, and also looked at the Spring/Summer Trends. I thought about how I could make this a little more darker, but keeping in line with it being a day-time advertisement shoot. I thought that I could use the purple in a pastel tone on the eye, and bring in a bright yellow lip, as these are complimentary colours. I thought about using blue to keep in with the Spring/Summer Trends, however I wanted to be a little different so used a colour close to it instead. I then added a little bit of Givenchy Darkness to the image through wetting the hair down, which is a trend in 2016. I thought that this would add seduction into the look, and make the shoot a little more interesting. For the second shoot, I wanted to use similar colours, but exaggerate this to add more drama to the look. I particularly liked the fourth image in how the eye shadow is completed and applied, and the slightly sharp shape that has been created. I thought about how I could use this within my look, so I decided to create my design in blue and purple, with a hint of gold in the inner corners. The last image was reference for the actual shoot, as I particularly liked the stance of the model as well as the use of black and white.
